Superficial thrombophlebitis in the subcutaneous veins, usually of the anterolateral thoracoabdominal wall with tender, painful, cordlike induration, often in the breast or axilla. There may be dimpling skin changes. A self-limited and benign condition, occurrences have been noted along other superficial veins of the abdomen and rarely, along the dorsal vein of the penis. Cause is uncertain, perhaps due to trauma or inflammatory triggers following implant-based breast reconstruction, botulin injection, or needle biopsy.

Conservative management is recommended, including NSAIDs and low-molecular-weight heparins.
