Synopsis

Dental caries, or cavities, are an exceedingly common oral condition presenting with holes or cavities in the tooth enamel caused by tooth decay. May present without symptoms, or with tooth pain, or sensitivity following consumption of hot, cold, or sweet food and drink. Visual signs can include holes or pits on the teeth and black, brown, or white staining. Treatments are dependent on the severity of the cavity and can include the application of fluoride in early stages, and fillings, crowns, or root canals in more severe cases.
