Synopsis

A partial duplication of PLAU (plasminogen activator urokinase type) in platelets leads to a dominant gain-of-function mutation with delayed bleeding after challenges such as surgery. The increased PLAU levels in platelets increase plasmin generation degradation of alpha-granule proteins. Responds to fibrinolytic inhibitors.
